A Groom’s Guide: Quick Tips for The Man’s Role in Wedding Planning

Friday, May 16th, 2014 | Filed under: dream wedding, wedding planning, Wedding Trends | author: By BLG,

groomsguideIn helping our couples plan their weddings and receptions at our New Jersey wedding venue, we’ve noticed that the grooms have started taking an increased interest, if not an increased role, in the details of planning their weddings. This for us has been a good sign. Taking an active part in the preparations for your special day with your significant other shows the importance you place on your wedding and also improves communication, lightens the workload for the other partner, and makes for a celebration that both the bride and groom will enjoy

While it may be easy for the groom to simply say “I want her to get whatever she wants” and take a hands-off approach by thinking he just doesn’t know or care about wedding details, and he won’t want to get in the way, the truth is that once a groom does participate, he often finds at least a few things that are of interest to him and on which he can actually offer some valuable input. And even if not, it’s always a positive to at least make the effort rather than to make the excuse. Read more…

How to Choose a Wedding Theme

 Wedding Theme

Wedding Theme Photos

The first thing to know about selecting a theme for your wedding is that you don’t have to. Many brides are happy to simply decide on a general color palette and then base their decisions about wedding floral arrangements, reception table settings, wedding invitations, and all of the other details on their preferred color scheme.  At our NJ wedding venue, we found this can make choices both easier and more difficult.  The range of options available to you makes it simpler to get what you want and at a cost that is more reasonable, but at the same time, an endless amount of choices can make it difficult to narrow down what you want and keep a cohesive design together.

When considering a wedding theme, many brides simply start with a basic seasonal concept and go from there–whether it’s a spring wedding theme, summer wedding theme, fall wedding theme, or winter wedding theme. From there we’ve seen brides narrow it even further.  For example, if it’s a spring wedding, they may choose to base their theme on cherry blossoms, incorporating actual cherry blossom branches into their centerpieces, taking wedding photographs with cherry trees as a backdrop, and working with the pink and white cherry blossom colors and images as part of their wedding décor, invitations, wedding favors, wedding cake, and so on.  You can almost picture exactly what the execution of this theme would look like.  Within a seasonal wedding theme, the options are many — from a summer picnic theme to a winter wonderland, and so much more.  Read more…

Wedding Venue

NJ Wedding Venue

One of the smartest ways to plan a fabulous wedding, even if you’re on a budget, is choosing a unique wedding venue in New Jersey. Unlike weddings in the windowless box-like rooms of some hotels, a unique wedding location offers glorious views, grandiose buildings, gorgeously-planted gardens, spectacular scenery, sparkling chandeliers, dramatic staircases and dazzling details of every sort.

A unique venue, in all of its spectacular style, will make each of your wedding design elements from your centerpieces to your table settings to lighting and more look even more impressive – and give the impression that you spent more – as they’re magically transformed by the beauty of the wedding venue itself. Big Wedding

When you’re planning your wedding, one of the first questions you’ll ask yourself – which has an enormous impact on everything from your wedding budget to your choice of wedding venue – is “How big do we want the wedding to be?” For every bride and groom, the issue of a wedding’s size is very subjective – you might think a 150 guest wedding is big, or a 400+ guest wedding is your definition of a big wedding. The number you come up with will form many of your wedding decisions, and factor into your wedding’s style. Read more…

It’s now one of the top wedding trends of 2012 to have the bride and groom see each other before the wedding ceremony so that they may take their wedding photos.

Taking Photos

Taking Photos

If you choose this timing for your pre-wedding photos, there are several advantages:

  • You look your very best, having just had your hair and makeup done, and everyone else looks their best as well…you’re not taking photos five hours after your wedding beauty services, so you look fresher and prettier, as does your wedding gown.
  • Your pre-wedding photos will not be rushed. Set at least an hour and a half for this relaxed photo session, so that you can get wonderful couple portraits and group photos. Read more…
