The Manor Receives AAA’s 4 Diamond Award for 22nd Consecutive Year
Continues Streak for Most Consecutive Wins in NJ; Third Most in USA
WEST ORANGE, NJ – May 20, 2010. The American Automobile Association (AAA) awarded The Manor, a West Orange restaurant and catering facility, with its 22nd consecutive Four Diamond Award on Sunday, May 16, 2010.
With this achievement, The Manor continues to be the restaurant with the longest streak of Four Diamond Awards in the state of New Jersey. It also remains the restaurant with the third most consecutive wins throughout the United States. Only the Green Room in Wilmington, Delaware and the Old Mill Room in Charlottesville, Virginia have more (23).
“We are humbled to be recognized for our efforts of maintaining true, fine dining standards in a time when we are seeing significant changes in this niche of the industry,” said Kurt Knowles. “This is truly an honor and we will make every effort to continue providing the best cuisine and service for another 22 years”.
The AAA defines a Four Diamond restaurant as one that is “geared to individuals in search of a distinctive fine-dining experience. Often orchestrated by an executive chef and an accomplished staff, menus reflect a high degree of creativity and complexity, using imaginative presentations to enhance high quality, market-fresh ingredients. The equally proficient service staff demonstrates a strong desire to meet or exceed guest expectations. A wine steward is typically available to provide menu-specific knowledge on wine selection. The ambiance is highly refined, comfortable and well-coordinated, incorporating quality materials and a variety of upscale design enhancements to give a first-class impression.
“Our motto is ‘six generations, one dedication’,” said Harry Knowles. “It’s important that our family continues the tradition of offering a true, fine dining experience and though we are grateful for being recognized by AAA for doing so year after year, we’d like to also thank the hundreds of thousands of patrons who have dined with us over the course of the last 53 years” who still see the value in this style of fine dining. Harry Knowles opened The Manor on New Year’s Day, 1956 and remains the active force behind the restaurant’s success today.
